Overview

Lagos is a rapidly growing city, currently with over 16m inhabitants. The existing transport infrastructure has become capacity constrained with unacceptable levels of traffic congestion. This congestion results in its inhabitants spending as much as 6 hours per day commuting to/from their place of work, reduced commercial efficiencies which also hamper future economic growth and an overall reduction in the quality of life of its residents.
The Government of Lagos State and LAMATA (Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority) started to address these issues with the publication of the Transportation Master Plan which included new LRT, Monorail and BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) transport corridors for implementation by 2020.
Ropeways Transport Limited have, in conjunction with LAMATA, developed a CPT project which relieves the congestion at pinch points between Lagos mainland, Lagos Island and Victoria Island in three locations, at Ijora/Iddo, at Apapa and at Ozumba near to Eko Hotel. The selection of these termini also allows passengers to interchange with both the existing and any future planned transport projects over longer distances.
