The Project

Ropeways Transport Limited is developing an aerial cable car transportation system in the Lagos Island metropolis area under a 30-year Franchise Agreement with the Lagos State Government (the “Project”). The aerial cable car system when fully completed will consist of three distinct cable car lines spanning ~11.3 km across Lagos Island, Victoria Island and Mainland Lagos and will operate under the name of the Lagos Cable Car Transit (LCCT) System.

The first phase of the LCCT will be the development of the Green Line, with the option to develop the Blue Line. The Red Line completes the LCCT. The Green Line covers 4.67km connecting Adeniji Adele in Lagos Island with Ozumba, via stations in Obalende and Falomo. The Blue Line (3.44km) connects Ijora and Iddo on the Lagos Mainland to the LCCT central hub at Adeniji Adele, while the Red Line (3.17km) connects the port commercial area of Apapa on the Lagos Mainland to the central hub via Oluwole Station.

All three lines when completed will include 218 cable cars, each with a capacity of 38 passengers and have a total capacity for c.300,000 daily trips. This will provide the LCCT with the ability to move more than 100 million passengers annually. The design capacity for the LCCT is 5,500 passengers per hour (average) per direction.

In terms of travel times, an end-to-end journey on the Green Line (Adeniji Adele to Ozumba, Victoria Island) will be expected to take ~13 minutes (comparable journey by bus transportation is 45 minutes), while the journey from Ijora to Ozumba (the Blue Line) will take 15 minutes (comparable road based transport will take 90 minutes) and a journey from Apapa to Ozumba (Red Line) will take 14 minutes (comparable journey by bus will take 150 minutes).
